Last week TF1 started broadcasting the 10th season of CSI. Marg Helgenberger, a.k.a. Catherine Willows, is the star of the show. We met her in Los Angeles on the set of the hit series. She talked about her character’s love life.

Marg Helgenberger, in this season, your character finally gets a new boyfriend…
Do you realize that the last time I had a bed scene was in season 3…I think! Not that I’m eager to flirt with an actor on the set, because it’s always a bit awkward and uncomfortable… But I am happy for my character: we can finally see a different side of her. And having a little diversity in the plots allows me to keep my inspiration, which is important especially after all this time spent playing the same character.

So who is the lucky guy?
It’s Detective Vartann, played by Alex Carter. He is adorable, and it’s important when the actors whose characters are supposed to get intimate get along. With him, it’s perfect. Plus, he’s sexy!

The men that Catherine sees often end up dead: will he be the exception?
Indeed. On this show, I’m kind of a black widow! My ex-husband passed away and my father died in my arms… Everything’s good with Vartann…for now! [Laughs] I can even tell you that we are still together in season 11.

Did you know that CSI is still No. 1 in France?
Of course! Thinking that we are still No. 1 in so many countries, like yours, after eleven years is exhilarating. The CSI phenomenon is undeniable. I measure the popularity of our show when I travel in Europe. People are so excited when they see me. I’m easy to spot because I’m a redhead and I almost look the same way in real life as I do on screen. I’m much more recognized in other countries than in Los Angeles actually. Although I still leave quite an impression when I visit smaller places in the U.S.!      ♦
