Marg Getting Awarded Is Not A Crime

By • Filed in: NewsLink

The Italian Telefilm magazine has a short article about Marg on its website, dated July 10, 2010. It tells the readers about Marg getting awarded at the Roma Fiction Fest and her return to CSI’s 11th season. Marg also tells the magazine about the TV shows she watches in the article. You can find the original article in Italian over here. Below is an English version translated by Margamania’s Anne.

Marg Helgenberger Gets Awarded

July 10, 2010

The star of CSI receives the RomaFictionFest Excellence Award which is not a crime to the viewers.

Marg Helgenberger — aka Catherine Willows of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation — will be honored tonight, July 10, during the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of RomaFictionFest. She will in fact be given the Excellence Award along with Andy Garcia, just a few days after news of the renewal of her contract in the Las Vegas science show. Her secret love in television, however, is no mystery: “I have a weakness for comedy,” she revealed exclusively to TFM, “and when I get home I can not do without it. It helps me remove the tension and drama of the day on the set, still struggling with terrible tragedies and circumstances. I like watching series like Modern Family or Glee or Entourage, only shows with light themes and without commitment.”

Marg Helgenberger, Seduced By Clooney And Admired By Tarantino

By • Filed in: MediaLink

The Italian website Movieplayer.it interviewed Marg at the opening night of Roma Fiction Festival 2010. They talked about Marg’s return to season 11 of CSI, whether there will be a possible return for William Petersen, the development of Catherine Willows and Marg’s involvement in it, working with George Clooney in ER, working with Quentin Tarantino and other famous movie directors, shows Marg likes to watch, a possible new movie project and more. You may find our translation not “perfect” English. That’s because both our translator and proofreader thought we’d respect the way the Italian language was used in the original transcript and keep the flavor.

You can find the original transcript in Italian on Movieplayer.it and read our English version by clicking the link below. A million thanks to Frá for the English translation!

Marg At Roma Fiction Fest 2010, Day 6

By • Filed in: Gallery, MediaLink

RomaFictionFest 2010 had its closing award ceremony Saturday evening (July 10). Here is a photo from the orange carpet taken by a fan, Antonio: see photo. Thanks to Heidi for pointing this out: Marg seems to be was wearing the same dress she wore to the 2001 Emmys.

We have informed you that Marg was awarded with the RomaFictionFest Academy Award For Artistic Excellence. Now you can see her receive the award, answer questions and give a short speech at the ceremony. The RomaFictionFest has uploaded some video clips from the evening. There are glimpses of Marg in most of them, but if you just want to see her on the stage, it’s in part 9, starting around 3:25.

There is also a video from Day 1 of the festival where you can see Marg being gorgeous and having fun.

For more videos from the festival, please go to Roma Fiction Fest’s official YouTube page.

Here are a few photos from the event:

And again, Deborah from Living In Rome spoiled us with another video and gorgeous photos. Marg fans are blessed by awesome fans from Rome this past week!

Marg At Roma Fiction Fest 2010, Day 4

By • Filed in: Gallery, MediaLink

RomaRictionFest 2010 had its CSI screening last night. As we informed you, Marg attended the event. She showed up in a baby blue dress and a pair of light beige Jimmy Choo heels with a blue Jimmy Choo purse in her hand — the exact outfit she was wearing when she visited “The View” and the Tribeca Film Festival in New York this April — looking stunning as always. Here are a couple of photos for you to enjoy. We will update the gallery and this post if something new shows up.

Living In Rome‘s Deborah wrote a report on the screening and shared a new video with us:

Having already seen her generosity towards fans on the orange carpet on opening night, yesterday we saw her extend that generosity to an entire room – she looked absolutely radiant, gave long and considered answers to numerous questions from the public, all the while smiling, posing for photographs and making eye contact with individual members of the audience. She clearly loves to connect with people and succeeds brilliantly at it!

Please go to Living In Rome for full article, and here is Deborah’s video:

Again, thanks a lot to Deborah for sharing the awesome experience!

Here are two more video clips from the same Q&A session uploaded by Proiezioni Mentali. Enjoy!

Featured Video; July 2010

This month we’re recommending an excellent China Beach video, “Toy Soldiers”, made by Michele. We hope you enjoy the amazing work.

  • Title: Toy Soldiers (watch video)
  • Creator: Michele
  • Song: “Toy Soldiers” by Martika
  • Subject: China Beach
  • Time: 2005

Anne’s Review:

It’s a credit to this video that everytime I hear this song now, I ALWAYS have this video running through my head. The song is perfect for the wartime era of China Beach, and the angst in the song matches the angst from the show beautifully. It’s very much a team video — you get to see the cast of China Beach, not just Marg as KC, but of course there’s still plenty of Marg. :)

I’ve always loved the scene in China Beach that Michele has used at 0.33 of the entire crew playing baseball in the rain on Independence Day. It was a great piece of fun in what would have been unbelievably difficult circumstances.

If you’ve never seen China Beach, this is a great introduction to what the show is all about. 1.03 is amazing, with Dodger (Jeff Kober) walking through the cemetery and the line of boots from the soldiers that were killed at China Beach. And if the clip after that of KC letting her daughter Karen get away from Saigon doesn’t make your heart ache, nothing will. 2.29 with KC comforting Boonie is just…also heartbreakingly tender. And of course 3.15 when KC sees Karen for the first time since she sent her away from Saigon to Boonie is also heartbreaking.

That being said, any of the times Marg smiles in it are just…stunning.
