Marg on LIVE! with Kelly, January 18th 2012
We apologize for the inconvenience during the blackout today, but things could get a lot worse if either SOPA or PIPA were to pass. There could be no more “unofficial” fansites.
Anyway, here is Marg’s interview on today’s LIVE! with Kelly. Besides leaving CSI, she also talks about getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and how she spent her New Year’s Eve!
Huge thank-you to the person that got the video for us. You know who you are!

MaMa Is Going Dark
Dear Margamania visitors,
Our website will be going dark from 8am to 8pm (UTC/GMT) in support of stopping SOPA and PIPA on Wednesday, January 18th. We realize this is a big day for our fandom but, the damage that these two laws could do to our fandom is worth blacking out our site and gallery for 12 hours.
Although this is in no way a political site, we would like to take the time to inform you about two proposed bills in the American House of Representatives and Senate that, if passed, will threaten this fan website and many others.
We are talking about the “Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)” and the “Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA)”. While SOPA is supposedly not moving forward for now, both of these ambiguously worded bills have the potential to shut down any website they deem is in violation of the law, and could impose fines and even prison sentences.
Are you willing to have your favorite sites go down? How about your e-mail censored by your provider because of the links it contains? What about trying to share a funny video or picture with a friend? If either one of these laws passes those things can, and probably will, quickly become reality.
Not American? Major websites like Google, facebook, Wikipedia, and tumblr are based in the United States. If SOPA and PIPA pass, these companies will have to change their websites which means it will affect you.
We urge you all, whether in the United State or outside, to please get more information about the bills by visiting americancensorship.org.
If you are not a citizen of the United States, you can sign the petition to Congress and the State Department to show you are against both proposed legislations.
For those in the United States, please contact your representatives in the House and the Senate.
Please help protect freedom on the internet!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Margamania
(Special thanks to Chell for composing this post for us.)
