  • When CSI first started filming, Marg visited the Clark County Coroner’s Office (Las Vegas) to see how things were really done. She even viewed autopsies that were being performed. Aside from Robert David Hall (who plays coroner Dr Al Robbins), Marg is the only cast member that has done so.
  • Owns a production company called Don’t Call Me Marge. It is her humorous jab at people’s mispronounciation of her name.
  • Why does Marg blush in the CSI episode Weeping Willows as Alan talks to her? Marg says “it was sexy, funny, silly things” while Alan adds later “I did say ‘Belt and suspenders’. And that’s all I’m going to tell.”
  • After the initial television broadcast of The Tommyknockers, Vidmark released a cut version of the miniseries for home video. This version ran for 120 minutes, cutting out several characters and even a few sub-plots (including the romance between Ruth and Butch).
  • Marg has stated that she was angered at the franchising of CSI.
  • Marg says that with the free time on set she often plays hacky sack with the guys.
  • On the ER episode Take These Broken Wings, Karen Hines, the character Marg played, wears a Northwestern University pullover. Northwestern is Marg’s alma mater.
  • In 2005, Universal Studios submitted Marg in the best supporting actress category for the Oscars for her performance as Ann Foreman in her 2004 movie In Good Company.
  • In Scrubs Marg was mentioned as follows:
    Dr. Cox: Hmm, who could you possibly go to if the father won’t sign? Here’s a hint: It begins with an “M” and ends with an “R”.

  • Marg auditioned for Laura Dern’s role in Jurassic Park.
  • John Reimler was in a college production of The Skin of Our Teeth with Marg at Northwestern University.

Misc Marg Trivia

  • Has a street in her hometown North Bend, Nebraska named after her (Helgenberger Avenue)
  • While not appearing in-frame, she is the unrequited love interest of the bespectacled amphibian Buddy in Mark Heath’s Spot the Frog comic strip.
  • In 2002, Marg was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People. Her husband Alan was proud, and her son Hughie wanted to know what number she was.
  • Had a plane scare while attempting to fly from Dallas, Texas to Omaha, Nebraska on October 20th, 2005. The pilot aborted take-off after the plane blew two tires. Marg eventually made it to Omaha.
  • In 2007, Marg was asked to do a spread for Playboy, but she declined
  • Marg has been mentioned on Jeopardy, Hollywood Squares, crossword puzzles, and in The Sopranos.
  • Marg was #41 on Entertainment Weekly‘s The EW 100 Stars We Love Right Now in summer 2007.
  • In 2002, Marg and her husband Alan appeared in the play Love Letters for one night to raise money for West L.A. congregation Adat Shalom.
  • Marg and Jorja Fox (CSI) sang Stand by Me as a duet for What a Pair 4!. This is an annual charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.
  • One of her old houses once belonged to silent film star William S. Hart.
  • Marg played the french horn in her high school (North Bend Central High School) marching band.
