Who Is Marg Rooting For at the Super Bowl?

By • Filed in: News

Sports Illustrated asked some celebrities, including Marg, who we know is a football fan, to pick a team for the Super Bowl. Here’s her answer:

Marg Helgenberger
CSI

“Oh, gosh, a final score. Well, I’m rooting for Green Bay, I’ll tell you that much! I think it’s going to be a close game. I’m good at picking a team, if they’re going to win or not, but scores I’ve never been good at!”

“The Big Tease” On Catherine Willows

By • Filed in: News

We are lucky that Matt Mitovich at Fancast answered another CSI/Catherine related question by us in the latest edition of his column The Big Tease, which was just posted on the website. The following quote contains major Catherine spoilers.

It would be really great if you could tell us anything about ‘CSI‘ – especially if it’s about Marg Helgenberger and her character Catherine. – Erica

I come to you not with just anything but lotsa things. I’ve been told that a soon-to-surface secret from Catherine’s past will not only shock the CSI team but also threaten her relationship with Vartann – perhaps even pushing her into the arms of another man. Oh, but that’s not all. An upcoming episode will trap Catherine on the 10th floor of an office building that has been booby-trapped by the same person who bombed the police funeral in the season opener.

CSI shocker: Marg Helgenberger considers leaving popular TV drama at season’s end

By Alex Strachan
NOVEMBER 7, 2010 5:03 AM

BEVERLY HILLS, California. — Marg Helgenberger may have cleaned up after her last body on CSI, the veteran TV actress told a handful of visiting journalists this weekend.

Helgenberger’s character, crime-scene investigator Catherine Willows, has been a mainstay of one of TV’s most-watched primetime dramas since its premiere on Oct. 6, 2000. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is now in its 11th season.

Helgenberger is contracted to appear until the end of this season. She was in a position to leave last year, but signed a one-year contract extension.

“It’s not that I feel disappointed or don’t like the show anymore, or am in any way unhappy,” said a reflective, soft-spoken Helgenberger. “It’s really just more about me, as an actor and as a person, realizing it’s time to kind of switch it off and see what else is out there.”

Marg Talks About Contract, Alex Carter and William Petersen

By • Filed in: Media, News

From Lynette Rice at EW.com:

‘CSI’ scoop: Marg Helgenberger talks about her contract, her TV boyfriend and William Petersen

CSI stalwart Marg Helgenberger thinks its “kind of remarkable” that her procedural has held up so well after so many years. But even if it remains a global phenom (and one of CBS’ top performers), it’s hard for her to imagine working on the veteran show beyond this year. ”I’m only actually negotiated for this season. That’s all I’m really thinking about right now is just finishing up this season,” Helgenberger told EW at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Presents: Primetime TV Crimefighters event on Monday in California. “So no, I don’t … not much longer. Not much longer.”

Helgenberger admits that working with Laurence Fishburne (“the consummate professional”) has been fun, and that her co-star should have no concerns about CSI’s former leading man William Petersen coming back for an extended stay. ”If I were to put money on it, no. He would never come back on any kind of full-time way,” she said. “He might come back to do an episode or two towards the end of the entire run, but no. He was ready to go.”

The actress teased that pin-up model Dita Von Teese is doing an upcoming episode. “I’m assuming she’s playing a burlesque character,” the actress says of Von Teese, who is a friend of CSI co-star Eric Szmanda and is known for her ”woman in a giant martini glass” routine.

Helgenberger is particularly thrilled with her storyline this season. ”I’m getting the opportunity to play different colors this season because I have a boyfriend on the show, played by Alex Carter. He’s been great. I’ve enjoyed it because it hasn’t been like all cerebral stuff. It’s been passionate. It’s been vulnerable. It’s been emotional. It’s been taking me to places that I don’t get to do on the show. That’s kept it fresh. And I enjoy working with him.” – With reporting from Vlada Gelman

Will Marg Be Back for Season 12 of “CSI”?

By • Filed in: Career, News

From Carita Rizzo at TVGuide.com:

The nail biter on CSI is whether or not original cast member Marg Helgenberger will really leave at the end of the season, as she announced earlier this year. “You know what, anything’s possible. But I wouldn’t consider a full season,” she tells TV Guide Magazine. Her change of heart may have something to do with Catherine’s recently improved private life. “It’s funny, I’ve said I want a love interest on the show since Season 2, and my last season I finally get one. There’s something going on there,” she laughs. “They’ve given me some more interesting things to do this season, so we’ll see where they’re going to take the character in the next few months. Like I said, anything’s possible.”
