It took me some time, but the photos from Marg’s star ceremony on January 23rd have finally been sorted and uploaded. Here are 438 pics along with two videos posted by WalkOfFame.com. As you can see, Dana Delany and Jorja Fox gave speeches, and most of the CSI cast, Marg’s son Hugh and her mother Kay were all there.

Marg Helgenberger ‘Happy’ With Her ‘CSI’ Exit

Marg Helgenberger’s nearing the end of her fantastic run on the hit show CSI and the actress appeared pleased with her character’s exit from the famous franchise.

“I was happy with my exit arc,” Helgenberger said. “It was action-packed, bigger in scope than in most of our episodes. I kind of got a chance to be a little bit of an action hero in one of the episodes.”

ET caught up with Helgenberger at the CSI: The Experience exhibit in New York where she gave some hints as to how her final two episodes play out. As for her emotions during filming, she didn’t hesitate to admit that it was tough to put it in words.

Marvelous Marg – Marg on CBS This Morning, January 17th 2012

This morning Marg was interviewed on CBS This Morning about leaving CSI and her experience on the show. Below is the full interview and our transcript.

Gayle: She’s been collecting fingerprints and other evidence on CSI since the hit CBS series began back in 2000.

Charlie: But next week crime scene investigator Catherine Willows is turning in her badge and Marg Helgenberger is here to tell us exactly why. [To Marg] Good morning.

Marg: Good morning, Charlie. Good morning, Gayle.

G: Good morning.

C: So the question that I have is to, well, this is one of the great franchises in television history.

M: Yes, yes.

C: And highest paid.

M: And what?

C: And highest paid…they say.

M: [Laughs]

G: Not a bad thing, Marg.

C: And you have this remarkable run. What causes one to say “now it’s time to go?”

M: Well, that’s an excellent question, one I’ve been asked quite a bit lately. And…I was starting to — it’s been an incredible run with an incredible group of people. This show still has uh…it does very well around the world. Number one in the world. It’s um…still of great quality. It was a very difficult decision. I just think it…I felt the need to kind of step back –yeah, ’cause I’ve been playing this character for eleven and a half years– to assess…reassess and regroup and…as scary as that is, I’m also sort of excited about the great wide open in the future and all the possibilities.

G: I was wondering about the scariness of it because your mom is in the green room, and I love that you came with your mom, number one. But when I was growing up, my mom used to always say “you should never leave a job without a job.” It’s always easier to get a job from a job.

M: Yeah.

G: Are you worried about it, or you just feel “I’m just open to all possibilities, whatever that is?”

M: I’m not worried so much about it. I’m more excited about all the possibilities than I’m worried. I mean, the fact that I did have such a great experience on CSI, the bar is set pretty high, so…

C: But you have a lot of interests as well.

M: A lot of interests?

C: Interests, yeah. And things that you might want to do.

M: Yes, yes. Career-wise as well as just…you know, life style and in terms of having the time…

C: And support the charity causes that you do so well like breast cancer…things like that.

M: Yes.

C: The character went through a very interesting evolution. Will you tell me where it started and where you’re ending it?

M: The character was introduced in the pilot script as Catherine Willows, CSI-three, single mother, ex-stripper.

G: Yeah, ex-stripper.

M: Ex-stripper. There was no –

G: That looks like ex-stripper, yeah.

M: [Laughs] It wasn’t at all tawdry.

G: Yeah.

M: There was nothing…actually there were no scenes filmed of any flashbacks of Catherine in that pilot episode, and some of the producers –the female producers– thought about changing that backstory once we got picked up and put on the air and I said no, no no, this is a woman who really — you know, that journey she took is quite different than most people that go into law enforcement. And I thought that really informed of the character and informed of the backstory, so I’m glad that they — I stood up for my stripperdom. So yes, she’s… Then that allowed her to… Her sexuality wasn’t even necessarily something she had to run away from because it sort of didn’t inhibit her job…

G: What would you like to do? You know, after twelve seasons, what would you like to do? And you’re so identified with her.

M: Yes.

G: What are you thinking?

M: Well, because I’m so identified with her, perhaps I could do something that’s quite different, you know —

G: A stripper, perhaps?

M: [Laughs]

G: Listen, Marg. That’s very different. That’s very different. But really, what would you like to do?

M: I would…well, ideally I’d like to do a play, perhaps here in New York City. A new play would be great, but I’m very interested in a revival. I haven’t been in a full production of a play in a…gazillion years. But the type of role…I mean, I think I’d like to play somebody that was…just kind of an ordinary woman that’s under extraordinary circumstances and doesn’t have a whole lot of like…the glam factor is sort of dialed down a bit.

C: As you look at all those options that might be there, whether it’s theatre, or whether it’s another film, or whether it’s a different character… Before you do that, look back for a second. Is there an episode, is there a moment, is there something that happened over this really successful run that you’ll always remember?

M: Wow. Well because it’s so fresh in my memory. The last episode that I shot, in which Catherine — I don’t want to give too much away, actually. It’s an action where Catherine actually has a chance to say goodbye to the team and shortly after that, I –Marg– said goodbye to the crew and I’ve got a nail pounded into my last mark on where I stood last, and that’s my permanent mark. They’re gonna fashion something there for me which will be there on Stage 24, Universal Studios. It was an emotional journey, and then the lead-up to it, the arc…the three-episode-arc was actually bad as well as emotional. Probably these because of this, probably. Although, so many. So many have impacted on me.

G: Will you watch the last episode? I’m always curious. You shot it, we all know what happens, or I know what happens…will you watch the last episode?

M: I will watch the last episode. Whether I want to sit by myself or with a group of people, I’m not exactly sure ’cause I know that there’ll be some tears.

G: But your mom will watch with you. I’ve met her.

M: Yes.

G: She’s very nice. She’ll watch with you.

M: Yeah.

G: Thank you, Marg.

M: Thank you.

G: Continued success, whatever you decide to do.

M: Thank you. Thanks for having me.

C: Thank you. Glad to meet you.

M: Thanks, you too.
