CSI, Thursdays, 9 p.m. ET, CTV/CBS

Finale date: May 20

What’s happened: The over-arcing story this season has been the chase to hunt down the Dr. Jekyll serial killer, who goes into people’s bodies and does bad things to them. Like making a bow tie out of a guy’s intestines and implanting radioactive seeds in another so he would go nuts and gun down a few neighbours.

Season highs: We know we’re in the minority here, but we continue to enjoy the addition of Laurence Fishburne to the cast. He and George Eads have done most of the heavy lifting as Langston and Nick, which has led to several great episodes.

Season lows: Catherine (Marg Helgenberger). The writers can’t find anything interesting for her to do anymore, so she just glides in and out, checking on ongoing cases. We think it’s time for Helgenberger to move on to another project, which coincidentally may happen sooner than later.

Behind-the-scenes: Fishburne will be back next season, but the jury is still out on whether Jorja Fox will be. Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn confirmed that Sara Sidle is in the season finale, which is a “to be continued” cliffhanger, so it’s a safe bet Fox will return for several episodes next year.

Finale predictions: As we indicated above, the cliffhanger finds the CSI team closing in on the Dr. Jekyll killer, with the help of convicted killer Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin), to whom Langston turns for help. Mendelsohn has indicated that the blood of “more than one CSI” will be spilled, perhaps a veiled indication that Catherine is toast.

Will it be back? Yup! Though the ratings have dropped, CSI is still at the top of the TV pack. Executive producer Naren Shankar, however, will not return next year. He’s moving on to other projects.

Overall Grade: B+
